Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information PrepPal Kitchen ("we") collects, why, and your choices. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

• Account information: your email address and login details. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
• Your preferences and content: cuisines, allergens, proteins and other plan options, household size, meal plans, favorites, pantry items, imported recipes and your notes.
• Billing information: your plan, billing status and billing history. Stripe collects and stores your payment card details; we never see your full card number.
• Support and feedback: messages you send through the Contact page or the feedback chat, any screenshots you attach, and technical details captured with them. These details are the page you were on, your browser and device type, your plan, and recent error messages.
• Usage and analytics data: basic logs such as IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, plus how you use the service — pages viewed, features used, and actions such as generating a plan or starting checkout — and diagnostic data when something goes wrong. We use these to keep the service secure, understand how it is used, and improve it.

How we use it

• To create your plans, recipes and grocery lists, and to personalise future suggestions (for example, based on meals you heart).
• To run your account, process payments and enforce plan limits.
• To answer your support requests and fix bugs.
• To send service emails, such as receipts, replies to your requests, and notices about changes to the service or prices.
• To understand how the service is used and improve it, using first-party, privacy-respecting product analytics and error monitoring.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

AI processing

To generate recipes and meal plans, and to draft tickets from the feedback chat, we send the relevant parts of your request to a third-party AI provider. That includes your preferences, pantry items and messages. We don't send your payment details. Our provider does not use data sent through its API to train its models.

Service providers we use

We rely on a small set of trusted third-party companies to help us run PrepPal Kitchen — for things like hosting and database storage, payment processing, email, analytics and error monitoring, and the AI that powers recipe and plan generation. We share information with them only as needed to provide the service, and only the information required for their part of it.

Some of these providers store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of those countries.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar storage that are essential to keep you logged in and the site working. We also use product analytics and performance and error monitoring, which may set cookies or similar identifiers to understand how the service is used and to diagnose problems. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days. The exceptions are records we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons, such as billing records, and short-lived backups.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to withdraw your consent, by emailing support@preppalkitchen.com. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Children

PrepPal Kitchen isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Kid-friendly meals are planned by adults on their own accounts.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information. These include encrypted connections, access controls, and limiting who can access data. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach puts you at risk of significant harm, we'll notify you as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell you by email or in the app.
